GameFabrique Dreamcast, Playstation 2 , GBA. I would recommend it. I was always intrigued by the premise of this game: defeating an alien invasion through the power of dance. I bought it for my Dreamcast and was delighted by the game, entranced by the visuals and I simply loved the music.

My Dreamcast is long sold on so I've bought the game for the PS2 and it's no less great than I remember. The gameplay is beautifully simple and an example in economy and accessibility. Remember the game Simon? It would light up a series of pads in sequence which you then had to repeat.

That's the gameplay of 'Space Channel 5' in essence. You move from encounter to encounter on a fixed path. Each encounter generally involves a group of dancing aliens with captured humans whom they are forcing to dance.

The aliens do a sequence of dance steps and Ulala that's the name of the character you control has to repeat it. If she gets it right enough times, the aliens acknowledge defeat and the liberated humans join a growing army of dancers who stand behind Ulala and copy her every move. Each level typically involves a couple of boss encounters as well. The game difficulty is well set in my opinion. Most rhythm action games, e. The game is immensely stylish and quite beautiful to behold. The backgrounds are typically streaming videos and polygonal dancers are superimposed on them.

The animation is breathtaking. It sounds even better than it looks which means that it sounds very, very good indeed. Should you buy it? If you really don't get the rhythm-action thing then no. If you like the genre then definitely get it; there is no better game. If you are intrigued then this is the best introduction to the genre.

By the way, I said that this is the best rhythm-action game. That's not quite true. If you hunt for it very hard you can also get 'Space Channel 5 Part 2' which is even better. It is a perfect companion to part 1 rather than an upgrade. Sega rock. Every game they do is cool. Trust and transparency is important to us. I love this game and is a must have!!!! My middle son absolutely loves this game and it's one of the only shooting games he has on his play station. I brought this for my daughter. She has had hours of fun with this game. I would recommend it. I was always intrigued by the premise of this game: defeating an alien invasion through the power of dance.

That's not quite true. If you hunt for it very hard you can also get 'Space Channel 5 Part 2' which is even better. It is a perfect companion to part 1 rather than an upgrade. Sega rock. Every game they do is cool. Especially when they come up with top ideas like Space Channel 5. The graphics are great. It's real hi-res action all the way.

You can see that UGA, who coded the game, took alot of time to make things perfect. The visuals are even better than the Dreamcast version! The sound is wicked, as you'd expect from a music-based game. The tunes are catchy as hell though. Overall: 4 Stars If only there was a two player mode! It features Michael Jackson! Minus the screaming crotch-grabbing Space Channel 5 is possibly the most basic "simon says" game there is out there.

Only involving the directional buttons, you'll hear and see a pattern, and your job is to repeat it with perfect timing. While being so simple, it comes across in a fresh manner by the nature of the game. The graphics are second to none, with so many people following your dance routines you'll be amazed, wanting to replay the VERY short game again and again. Once again, like most games of the genre, its style over substance, but oh what style! See all reviews.
